As Cavaradossi in Tosca
Possessing a “luxuriant tenor” voice, Adam Cromer delights audiences by delivering “splendid long held high notes” with “magnificent top spin” in the lyric spinto repertoire. Adam is a hard working, thoughtful performer who delivers power and vulnerability on stage.
Adam's recent performance of Rodolfo in La Bohème with the North Shore Music Festival was praised as "standing out among the cast...capable of power as well as subtlety." Earlier this year, Adam received accolades for his “sexy” performance of Lt. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Opera Lancaster, a role he then revisited with Chelsea Opera. In July, he performed the role of Luigi in Il Tabarro under the Brooklyn Bridge with Vertical Player Repertory. Last season brought Adam’s exciting role debut as Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca with Opera Lancaster, under the direction of John Darrenkamp.
Adam most recently learned the role of Faust in Boito's Mefistofele for performances in October with Taconic Opera. He is also excited to be returning to Sarasota Opera for the 2013 winter festival season. There he will be a part of their acclaimed Verdi cycle, singing Delmonte in Un giorno di regno and also covering the role of Lennie Small in Floyd's Of Mice and Men.
Adam’s operatic performance highlights include the roles of Alfredo in La Traviata, Sam in Susannah, Lennie in Of Mice and Men, Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana, and Don José in Carmen. He has sung with opera companies throughout the US including Chautauqua Opera, Sarasota Opera, Utah Festival Opera, American Opera Projects, and Union Avenue Opera. Adam performs frequently in concerts and recitals with his many talented colleagues in the New York area.
Born in Nashville, Adam grew up singing gospel and country music, but fell in love with opera while in college. He majored in philosophy, but went on to receive a Masters in Music from Washington University. He followed his formal education with apprentice and training programs for young singers. Adam continues to learn and grow as a singer and a performer and is amazed by the power of music to bring people together and fill voids in our lives. He’s delighted to share in that each time he performs.
