Alison Cook Beatty
Alison founded Alison Cook Beatty Dance Company in 2012. The company has performed throughout the NY/NJ/CT area and continues its rehearsal, performance, and community outreach events. As choreographer and Artistic Director for Alison Cook Beatty Dance Company, Ballet Next recently commissioned her work, INTINNABULI, at its Joyce Theater season, the 92nd Street Y, and Kaatsbaan, working closely with Michele Wiles, Artistic Director and Principle Dancer of Ballet Next as well as Jason Reilly of The Stuggart Ballet. Alison was also commissioned by Carolina Ballet Theater, having her work,PELICAN DREAM, performed at The Peace Center in Greenville, NC.
Alison has recently been commissioned by Columbia Ballet Collaborative to create a ballet in the spring of 2013.Alison enjoys a successful career as a dancer, choreographer, director, teacher, and dance model. She has performed with numerous dance companies and choreographers, such as David Dorfman Dance, Infinity Dance Theater, KM&Co, Naomi Goldberg Haas,Val Suarez, Milton Myers and Gabriela Poler-Buzali. Alison joined Paul Taylor’s Taylor 2 Dance Companyin 2002 and remained there until 2008, performing and teaching Mr. Taylor’s repertoire nationally and internationally. During that time, she also performed with The Paul Taylor Dance Company in 2005 and in 2007, including work with other choreographers. Since leaving the Taylor organization, Alison has worked with many contemporary choreographers. Recently, she has worked and performed with ZviDance, Carolina Ballet Theater, Collective Body Dance Lab, Ballet Verite, Thang Dao Dance Company, Trainer Dance, C. Eule Dance, The Amy Marshall Dance Company and Morales Dance.
Born in Connecticut, Alison attended The Boston Conservatory where she earned a BFA in Dance andwas awarded The Ruth Sandholm Ambrose Scholarship Award, among other scholarships. Alison enjoys teaching dance to people of all ages and abilities. She is currently on faculty at The Joffrey Ballet School and Dance In Grandma's Attic. Alison has taught at The Longrea Dance Academy, Cavise Dance Studio
and The City Parks Foundation, as well as nationally and internationally with Taylor 2. Additionally,Alison has worked with several leading dance photographers and print photographers, including MSA Models, HBO, Dance Magazine, Dance Teacher magazine, Lois Greenfield Photography, Paul B. Goode Photography, Lucas Chilczuck Photography, Marc Safran Photography, and was in James Houston’s Book MOVE.
