A notable example of our past programming is the concert Homage to Carlos Gomes.  Selections from the Brazilian composer’s major works were performed by a cast of professional opera singers that included La Scala soloist Luiz-Ottavio Faria.  Maestro Harold Rosenbaum’s acclaimed Canticum Novum Singers were also featured, performing the historically significant hymn Il Saluto del Brasile in its New York premiere.  We were greatly honored that members of Maestro Gomes’ family traveled from their native Brazil to attend the concert.  A video recording of the performance can be viewed on our "Recordings" webpage.  

Previously Opera Dolce presented Carlos Gomes, Operatic Treasure of Brazil for an audience that included Brazilian Ambassador Luiz Felipe Corrêa and other dignitaries.  The concert featured selections from Maestro Gomes’ operatic masterpieces, several receiving their North American premiere.  Dancers from the Alison Cook Beatty Dance Company joined our cast of professional opera singers. 
 
Other productions include the benefit concert Leap of Faith, featuring Metropolitan Opera and Broadway stars; a chamber opera production of Der fliegende Holländer which incorporated dramatic narrative;  Impressions: A Musical Celebration of the Art of Eric Girault with music chosen to complement the Impressionist-style paintings of Mr. Girault and Opera Italian Style for the community organization Lenox Hill Neighborhood House.
